These authentic Jersey Royal Potatoes are cultivated by a dedicated group of island farmers, many of whom are fourth or fifth generation. Growers utilise traditional methods developed over the last 125 years alongside appropriate modern techniques. The potatoes are planted and often harvested by hand across steep, south-facing slopes known as côtils. Some sandy fields benefit from the natural nutrient boost provided by spreading seaweed, or Vraic, on the soil. This careful cultivation process contributes significantly to the distinctive flavour of these renowned tubers.

Read MoreJersey Royal Potatoes The famous Jersey Royal is grown by our committed group of island farmers, many of whom are fourth or fifth generation. Although modern technology is used where appropriate, our dedicated growers continue to use some of the most traditional methods that have developed over the last 125 years. Each Jersey Royal is planted by hand with many from the steep south facing slopes (côtils), being harvested by hand too. A number of the sandy fields still have seaweed (Vraic) spread on them to add nutrients to the soil and add to the flavour of the delicious Jersey Royal. This unique potato can only come from Jersey. It has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), similar to other distinctive foods and drinks, such a Champagne, awarded in 1997.
