Store in a cool dry place.
Preparation and Usage
How to cook: Super simple, with no need to soak, just rinse these lentils in cold water and then add to boiling water. Use 3 parts water to 1 part lentils. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 15-30 minutes depending on how soft you would like your lentils to be.
Instructions
Super tasty and versatile with no need to soak, they make a great side dish or a hearty addition to an Indian Dahl or stew.
The Crazy Jack's Red Lentil Soup.
Ingredients: (Serves 4-6)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil,
1 large red onion, chopped,
125 litres of vegetable stock,
250g Crazy Jack Red Lentils,
100g brown rice,
1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes,
Salt and pepper to taste,
A handful of toasted Pine Nuts,
Feta cheese.
1. In a large pan, heat the oil and brown the onions stirring occasionally.
2. Stir in the vegetable stock, bring to the boil, and stir in the lentils, rice and chilli flakes. Simmer for about 30 minutes or until the rice is very soft and the lentils have broken down. If the soup is thicker than you would like, add some more water at this point.
3. Season to taste, and serve topped with the toasted pine nuts and crumbled feta cheese.
These lentils are cleaned but may contain an occasional mineral stone.
