History: Chateau de Montguéret is a large estate covering 100 hectares in the Loire Valley. It covers the Anjou, Saumur and Coteaux du Layon appellations. Built in 1880, the Château is a pure example of Napoleon III style. It also uses three materials from the region, Saumur Tufa, Anjou Schist and Sèvres Brick, on a hillside overlooking Layon. Grape variety: Grolleau. Current vintage: 2024. Regional information: The Montguéret estate is in Anjou on the edge of Saumur, and covers the villages of Nueil-sur-Layon, Passavant-sur-Layon, Cléré-sur-Layon and Vaudelnay. It is traversed by the River Layon, a left-bank tributary of the Loire.
