Storage: For Best Before End, see side of pack. Store in a cool, dry place. Not suitable for freezing. Wrap any unused icing in polythene or foil to prevent it drying out. Do not refrigerate.
Preparation and Usage: Knead icing until pliable and roll out on a clean, dry surface lightly dusted with icing sugar. For a marzipanned cake roll out to a thickness of approx. 5mm (quarter inch). Use a thinner layer if applying directly onto a sponge cake. To cover a marzipanned cake, slightly moisten marzipan with cool boiled water. To cover a non marzipanned cake, brush cake with cool boiled apricot jam or alternatively you can use a thin covering of buttercream to ensure icing does not slip. Lift icing using your rolling pin as support and drape over cake. Smooth into position using the palm of your hand, working from centre to edge and down sides. Trim away any excess icing using a sharp knife. This pack covers the top and sides of a 20cm (8) round cake. Cooks Tips: To stop your cake from moving use apricot jam to secure the cake to the cake board.
