January to March. In trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Keep at approximately 13°C. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Transplant to further trays if necessary. Stand outside for a few days early April (avoid frosts). Transplant to final position with 60cm between plants and rows. Firm in well and keep moist. June to October.
Protect early and late (overwinter) sowings with cloches.
