It has a fresh, citrus flavour with a strong and distinctive aroma. The leaves and shoots are often used as a garnish and it's a popular flavour enhancer in cuisines including Mexican, Indian and Chinese.
Coriander stems have a stronger flavour than the leaves and can be added to a whole range of curries. Although native to Southern Europe and the Middle East, coriander is now grown worldwide and is a slender, solid stemmed plant, growing up to 60cm tall.
Coriander retains its freshness and flavour even when frozen, helping to minimise food waste. Either place into a bag and seal or freeze into ice cube trays with oil and use as an easy recipe ingredient. You can freeze coriander for up to 4 months.
