Ocado Organic Broccoli. This product is sold by weight, the minimum weight of product you will receive is 300g.
This crisp and fresh broccoli is typically a vibrant dark green, sometimes with hints of purple or blue, especially on the very tips of the buds, and a lighter green to whitish stem. Naturally high in folic acid and fibre, an 80g portion is 1 of your 5 a day.
The taste can vary slightly depending on whether they are raw or cooked.
Raw: It has a crisp, slightly bitter, and subtly peppery flavour with a fresh, almost grassy undertone.
Steamed/Boiled: The bitterness mellows significantly, and it becomes sweeter and more tender, retaining a mild, earthy green flavour.
Roasted/Sautéed: Roasting or sautéing brings out a deeper, more caramelised sweetness and a nutty flavour, particularly if the florets get slightly browned or charred. The texture can become tender-crisp.
Broccoli is incredibly versatile and can be used in a vast array of dishes. Raw broccoli florets add crunch and a peppery bite to hearty salads, often paired with nuts, dried fruit, and creamy dressings or serve up on a veggie platter with a array of dips.
Steamed, boiled, roasted, or sautéed, it makes an excellent accompaniment to almost any main meal - roasted meats, grilled fish, or casseroles. Its firm texture stands up well to high-heat cooking in stir-fries, absorbing flavours beautifully while adding a vibrant green colour and crunch to Asian-inspired dishes.
Toss into pasta with garlic, olive oil, and chilli flakes, or incorporate into creamy pasta sauces. The florets are delicious when roasted alongside other vegetables like carrots, potatoes, parsnips and protein like chicken and sausages as part of a one-pan meal.
Ocado organic broccoli is grown to Soil Association organic standard farming methods, and avoid the use of unnatural pesticides and fertilisers.
