xOcado Organic Ripen at Home Pears. Our pears change throughout the seasons so varieties may include Abate Fetel, Beurre Bosc, Concorde, Conference, D'Anjou, Guyot, Packham's, Qtee and Williams amongst others.
These pears have a juicy, white flesh and a sweet flavour balanced with subtle acidity. To enjoy at their best, simply leave in your fruit bowl at room temperature for a few days until they feel slightly softer to the touch. Once ripe, a medium pear is 1 of your 5 a day and can be enjoyed as a delicious snack on the go, diced into salads, paired with cheeses like brie, gorgonzola, or cheddar, and baked, roasted or poached for dazzling desserts.
Our organic pears are grown to strict Soil Association organic standard farming methods, and avoid the use of unnatural pesticides and fertilisers.
To speed up the ripening process, place the pears in a paper bag with a ripe banana or apple. The ethylene gas produced by the other fruit will help to ripen the pears faster.
