Tea Tree oil can be used for hair and scalp care by mixing it with a blending oil or adding a few drops to shampoo or conditioner. It helps prevent chemical and dead skin build-up, resulting in a healthier scalp and hair. Studies have shown it can reduce dandruff and improve scalp itchiness and greasiness. Historically, Tea Tree has been used to assist in treating athlete's foot and other fungal infections due to its anti-fungal properties. Tea Tree oil can also provide support to the immune system and is known to assist with relief of the symptoms of sinusitis and other respiratory complaints. Tea Tree is a popular substitute for insect repellents that contain chemicals. Its strong aroma has been found to be effective in deterring the presence of several pests, such as bed bugs, lice, mosquitoes, and ants.

Its anti-bacterial properties make Tea Tree an asset to any cleaning routine, able to cleanse surfaces whilst neutralising bad odours. Aromatically, Tea Tree is a middle-note essential oil, the main body and balance of a blend, meaning its scent will last a few hours. Native to Australia, the Tea Tree is part of the Myrtaceae (Myrtle) family and produces one of the most well-known essential oils globally. Tea Tree supposedly gets its name from being used as a tea by sailors from the 18th century under Captain Cook as he navigated the Pacific Ocean. He witnessed the indigenous population of Australia using the leaves as medicine and copied the use. Tea Tree has become a common household remedy, with the huge industry producing hundreds of kilos of Tea Tree every year.
Top Tip: Add a drop of Tea Tree to your cloth before wiping down surfaces around your home to deodorise and deeply cleanse.

Directions:

MASSAGE: Add 5 drops of essential oil to 10ml of blending oil.

BATH: Add 4 to 6 drops of essential oil to 20ml of blending oil & swirl into water.

VAPORISING: Add 6 to 8 drops of essential oil to a vaporiser or burner.
