The label dates back to 1837 - although it came into favour in 1962 when bought by the Moueix family - and grows its Merlot grapes on a seven-hectare, clay-based vineyard, where every berry is hand-picked after the morning dew has evaporated.
In the case of the 2012 red wine, it only gets better with age, as the weighty, rich blend will be ripe for drinking in 2024. Patience is a virtue, but the fruity freshness will be the perfect reward.
