It combines finesse and elegance with creamy, nutty characteristics and like Vintage Port will take on the style of the harvest year.
Increasingly rare, these wines are the supreme expression of the old Tawny Ports. Quinta do Noval Colheita 2009 is an old Tawny produced from a single harvest, made from grapes exclusively grown in Quinta do Noval's own vineyards, in the heart of the Douro valley. Matured in oak barrels since the harvest until its bottling, it combines finesse and elegance with creamy and nutty characteristics.

Handpicked, crushed and fermented on skins in open top fermenters allowing punch downs and gentle pump-overs to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Malolactic fermentation in French oak puncheons. Aged for 16 months in 5% new, and older French puncheons of 500 capacity. Special care is taken to maintain fruit integrity. 12% Cinsault was blended with the Shiraz.

History: Quinta do Noval is situated in the Douro valley in the north of Portugal. Known throughout the world for its Port wines, Quinta do Noval produces great wines that bear the stamp of their origin since the early 18th century. The vineyard of 145 hectares which is entirely classified letter A, is planted with the noblest grape varieties of the Douro: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Sousão. Quinta do Noval is the only historic Port Shipper to use the name of its vineyard and to produce a Vintage Port from one single vineyard, when declared.

Tasting notes: The Colheita 2009 has a complex nose that combines nuttiness with elegant fruit. It has a silky texture with a soft tannic backbone. Some exotic flavours and caramel on the palate provide a lingering finish. This excellent Colheita Port offers a full, sweet, rich and smooth taste that lingers for a long time.
