The Tejo region is located in the heart of Portugal, a short distance from Lisbon. Tejo has a rich heritage with deep roots in viticulture. Formerly known as Ribatejo, the name was changed to Tejo in 2009 as a tribute to the river that has defined its landscape, climate and economy for centuries. The river can also be credited for shaping the distinct wines of Tejo, making the surrounding plains and riverbanks an ideal terrain to cultivate Portugal's native grapes.
